One Little Shaker (Song)

Another lovely song exploring the different parts of your childrens bodies..

This works well with children of all ages, and helps them to explore their listening, pulse and musical phrasing, and for older children, their singing and pitching.

Babies enjoy songs that involve touch and may respond physically to the sounds they hear through their facial expressions, moving arms and legs etc. They may also start to vocalise as you sing - a mixture of non-syllabic sounds 'aaaaah' and syllable sounds 'da, da'. put the instruments on the different parts of their bodies so they can feel as well as hearing the instruments.

Toddlers may start to join in physically with the actions and this song is a good opportunity to help them identify some of the trickier parts of the body. Where is your knee? Elbow? Wrist?

Pre-school aged children may also be able to join in with some of the words and actions. Encouraging solo singing at home will really help to boost their confidence singing with their peers.

Singing regularly using a range of songs is a great way to help your children develop their vocalising and singing, whilst also exploring language and meaning.
